Hot Topic – Top common Rejects and Customer resolutions

Below, you will find some of the most common type of rejects received early in the Tax Season.



#1 – Form 8962
Reject Code: F8962-070


The e-File database indicates that Form 8962 or a binary attachment with description containing "ACA Explanation" must be present in the return.

Resolution:
If the Taxpayer received Market Place Insurance, then the 8962 form must be completed.

#2 – EIC SSN
Reject Code: SEIC-F1040-501-02


Each 'QualifyingChildNameControlTxt' that has a value on Schedule EIC(Form 1040), Line 1, and 'QualifyingChildSSN' that has a value on Line 2, must match that in the e-File database. 

Resolution:
Validate the information entered with the actual information located on the Dependent’s Social Security Card

#3 - Identity Protection PIN Rejects
Reject Code: IND-181-01

The Primary Taxpayer did not enter a valid Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IP PIN). Please visit www.irs.gov/getanippin for further information and resubmit your return with the correct number. 

Resolution:
Please remember to use the TY2022 Identity ProtectionPIN and not the IP PIN that was issued in TY2021.

#4 - Schedule 8812
Reject Code: S8812-F1040-014

Schedule 8812 (Form 1040), 'OtherDependentCnt' must be equal to the number of dependents with 'EligibleForODCInd' checked in the return.

Resolution: IRS has resolved the reject. Please resubmit the return.



#5 - Schedule 8812
Reject Code: R0000-504-02


Each 'DependentSSN' and the corresponding 'DependentNameControlTxt' that has a value in 'DependentDetail' in the return must match the SSN and Name Control in the e-File database.

Resolution:  Validate the information entered with the actual information located on the Dependent’s Social Security Card
