Hot Topic – Top common Rejects and Customer resolutions

Below, you will find some of the most common type of rejects received early in the Tax Season.



#1 – Form 8962
Reject Code: F8962-070


The e-File database indicates that Form 8962 or a binary attachment with description containing "ACA Explanation" must be present in the return.

Resolution:
If the Taxpayer received Market Place Insurance, then the 8962 form must be completed.

#2 – EIC SSN
Reject Code: SEIC-F1040-501-02


Each 'QualifyingChildNameControlTxt' that has a value on Schedule EIC(Form 1040), Line 1, and 'QualifyingChildSSN' that has a value on Line 2, must match that in the e-File database. 

Resolution:
Validate the information entered with the actual information located on the Dependent’s Social Security Card

#3 - Identity Protection PIN Rejects
Reject Code: IND-181-01

The Primary Taxpayer did not enter a valid Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IP PIN). Please visit www.irs.gov/getanippin for further information and resubmit your return with the correct number. 

Resolution:
Please remember to use the TY2022 Identity ProtectionPIN and not the IP PIN that was issued in TY2021.

#4 - Schedule 8812
Reject Code: S8812-F1040-014

Schedule 8812 (Form 1040), 'OtherDependentCnt' must be equal to the number of dependents with 'EligibleForODCInd' checked in the return.

Resolution: IRS has resolved the reject. Please resubmit the return.



#5 - Schedule 8812
Reject Code: R0000-504-02


Each 'DependentSSN' and the corresponding 'DependentNameControlTxt' that has a value in 'DependentDetail' in the return must match the SSN and Name Control in the e-File database.

Resolution:  Validate the information entered with the actual information located on the Dependent’s Social Security Card

NCDOR Announces Opening of Business and Individual Income Tax Seasons

The North Carolina Department of Revenue has announced its opening dates for tax season.

The N.C. Department of Revenue (NCDOR) will begin accepting both business and individual income tax returns over the next few weeks.

The NCDOR anticipates accepting 2022 Corporate Income and Franchise, Partnership Income, and Estates and Trust Income tax returns by Friday, January 27.
The NCDOR anticipates accepting 2022 Individual Income tax returns by Friday, February 3.

Although the Department anticipates that we will begin accepting returns by February 3, it will be early March before we can begin processing and validating return information and issuing refunds.

Pre-Ack Deadline for 2023

Monday January 23rd, 2023, is the official opening day of IRS electronic filing.

The Pre-Acks for TaxWise will be disabled at Midnight-ET on Sunday, January 22nd, 2023. Please be sure to submit any Pre-Ack Returns before this time.

Also, ensure you have downloaded and are using the most current Bank Module:
  • 3Fund - v2
  • EPS - v2
  • Fee Collect - v2
  • Refund Advantage - v2
  • Republic - v2
  • Santa Barbara - v2

Payroll Compliance Reporting (PCR) 22.1 is now available

In this release, the W-2 and 1099 mappings are updated to support the QuickBooks, Sage and Client Accounting Suite imports for 2022.

Installation Instructions:

The following installation types require the 22.1 update:

  • Stand-Alone
  • Workstation Only
  • Workstation/Server

Server Only installations do not require the 22.1 update.

  • As a best practice, it is recommended that you close the application on all workstations and update each one separately.

IRS opens for Individual Returns on January 23rd, 2023

The Internal Revenue Service announced that the nation's tax season will begin on Monday, January 23rd, 2023, when the tax agency will begin accepting and processing 2022 tax year returns.

Tuesday April 18th, 2023 will be the deadline to file a 2022 Tax Return or request an extension.

IRS Opens for Business Returns on January 12th

The IRS announced their start date for Business e-filing as Thursday, January 12, 2023. Business filing also includes payroll compliance forms, such as 940, 941, 944, 1099, and W2. For updated dates on when all these forms will be available in ATX and/or Payroll Compliance Reporting / W2-1099, please refer to the E-file Availability page on the ATX Solution Center. 

Note: On January 9, 2023, the IRS made us aware that they are still working on updating the 94x e-file schema. Until these updates are complete, you will be unable to e-file 94x series returns.

Reminder: Bank Product Enrollment

Tax Season is here. If you have not setup your Bank Product enrollment, please take advantage of the resources below.  


How do I setup Bank Products?
Please visit our enrollment site by logging into the Support Site and clicking “Quick Links> Bank Enrollment”
  1. Complete the Enrollment Agreement
  2. Complete Office Info
  3. Select your Providers and Complete Provider Info
  4. Send Applications
Once the bank approves your application, your status will be updated on the Support Site.

California Middle Class Tax Refund 1099-MISC

 The California Franchise Tax Board has provided us with the below statement:

The FTB determined that the Middle Class Tax Refund (MCTR) payments may be considered federal income, and thus determined FTB had a requirement to issue forms 1099-MISC for MCTR payments of $600 or more pursuant to the controlling federal regulations. The 1099-MISC for MCTR can be identified as a form 1099 received from payer Franchise Tax Board – MCTR. MCTR payment amount will be reported in box 3/other income.

Refunds Today: Pre-Acknowledgement (Pre-ack) is now available for Tax Year 2022

January 3rd, 2023, marks the beginning of the tax season for those of you offering Pre-acknowledgement (Pre-ack) advances through TPG and Republic Bank. 

If you haven’t enrolled to offer bank products yet, our partners are still open and accepting enrollment applications for all products.

Once you have enrolled, check out our FAQs below for pre-ack advance products.


How do I apply for Pre-ack inside of the return?
On the main information, select bank products and check the box for the appropriate bank (your active bank). You will then visit the bank application and complete the necessary steps, including selecting advance and the taxpayers preferred disbursement. Once that is completed, you will efile the return.

What is EFC reject 91?
EFC 91 is an EFC reject you will receive when the bank rejects the Pre-ack return. To fix these rejects print the ack report and search for the bank rejection, this will tell you what the reject is and you can fix and resend.

  • Saturdays, 10am - 6pm ET
  • Sundays, Closed;  Support will be open April 9th and April 16th for End of Season
