Electronic Filing Center Scheduled Maintenance

Please be advised that scheduled maintenance for our Electronic Filing Center for 2014, 2015, and 2016 will take place on Wednesday June 7, between 7:00pm and 12:00am EST.

During this time you will be able transmit returns to the EFC but will not pick up any acknowledgements. This will also effect Online Check Printing and Return Retrieval.

For Refunds Today Online, if you need to create any returns that will have carry forward data, please wait until the maintenance will be complete when the system comes back online after 12:OO am EST.

We appreciate your patience during this scheduled maintenance.

You will resume picking up all files when the system is brought back online at midnight..

Resetting the Admin Password

How do I reset the Admin password for TaxWise® 2016?

These steps are used for the 2016 TaxWise desktop
version of the software. Prior year versions of the desktop software use
a different mechanism to reset the Admin password. For instructions on
how to reset the Admin password for a prior year version of TaxWise, see
How do I reset the Admin password for a prior year version of TaxWise®?.

The following video explains how to reset the Admin password using TaxWise®.

If you enter the Admin password incorrectly five (or more) times when logging into TaxWise, your user ID will become locked.

To unlock the Admin user and reset the password, do the following:

  1. Log in to TaxWise using Admin as the user ID and enter your TaxWise registration code in the Password box.

    • Your registration code is found on the fulfillment slip that
was shipped with the program or in the TaxWise Solution Center (Select
the Download tab, then TaxWise Software link on the left menu bar).
  2. Click Login.
  3. In the Enter a new password and Re-enter new password boxes, enter a new password.
    • The password must contain 8-20 characters, 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, 1 number, and 1 special character.
  4. Click Save.

If any other user other than Admin is locked out, the Admin user can
unlock them. For instructions on how to unlock a user's password for
TaxWise Desktop, see How do I reset a user's password in TaxWise®?.

  • Note: If you are logged in as a user other than Admin and click Change User to
switch to Admin, the steps described above will not work. Close TaxWise
and start over with the initial Login screen. If you are locked out,
the steps above will unlock the Admin user.
